Another Rifty Campaign of Extraordinary Magnitude

Session 1
The adventure begins! (Original, eh?)

The players find themselves at the Job Market Cafe in MercTown. “Fixer” Jones, a vaguely familiar face, has several job “opportunities” available:

  • Slay a family of green horned dragonz buggin a small town (Federation of Magic) – 200,000 UC
  • Find a crashed passenger transport (Somewhere between here and Arzno) – 75,000 UC
  • Rescue a shady respectable businessman from a Coalition prison camp (CS Mizzuri) – 100,000 UC
  • XTRA PAY: Deliver an Alien Rex tooth to City of Char – 300,000 UC 550,000 UC!!!!!

The players ultimately decide to deliver an Alien Rex tooth to a Techno-Wizard named Lady Paradigm in the city of Char.

Speaking of the players, a quick introduction:

  • Phred (Adam): a Slurmph who works at a family-owned restaurant in Char.
  • Enrico (Sean): a Lyn-Srial in search of a missing Techno-Wizard named Wayne.
  • TBD (Alex): a rogue scientist whose intentions are unclear and somewhat mysterious.
  • Alverez (Tony): a 21st century transplant who seems to have some psionic abilities…

Joining the party on their quest for an Alien Rex tooth is Laurence, a professional dinosaur hunter.

En route to Char, the party camps out in a small deserted town. Laurence seems surprised by the desertion as it was a strong camp not two weeks prior.

While on a night watch, Alverez observes several scantily clad women on horseback ride through the town. Their demeanor is odd. There were not hostile, but didn’t exactly warm up to the players either.

Also on a night watch, Alex notices a bird drop a coin by his feet. It appears to be a coin on ancient origin, which Alex quietly slipped into a pocket.

The next morning, the players enter the swamps outside of Char…. not too far from the city, they are ambushed by bandits! Not to be stopped by petty thieves, the party handled the situation with minimal violence.

On to the city of Char… we hope.

Session 2
o/~ Boulders keep falling on my head... o/~

Having thwarted the bandits, the party continued eastward. From the top of the Appalachian Mountains looking east, the glow of many ley lines could be seen… “So this is why Char is so isolated.”

After a night’s rest, the party headed eastward, towards the ley lines. As they approached the ley lines.. whaddaya know! A ley line storm! Enrico was teleported about 100 yards down a ley line where he found a Techno-Wizard and her damaged hovercycle.

Suddenly, it literally began to rain boulders! The players, after taking some damage, took refuge in a cave. phew In the cafe were others seeking shelter: a Cyber-Knight and an Operator, on a mission to find a missing Cyber-Knight named Sir Edwin.

After the storm passed, the players left the cave but quickly realized they were no longer west of Char. Instead, they were south of Char, on the edge of the SteelTree Forest!

They got their bearing and headed north… but were attacked by a Tyrannosaurus Rex! That sucks when that happens. It was a tough fight… the Cyber-Knight took some chunks out of the main body, but a lot of damage was delivered to the head. The dinosaur attempted to flee after its eyes became covered with Phred’s slime.

No big deal! But suddenly… thumpthumpthump…. better get ready!

(Sorry, this isn’t one of my better works of literature. Just wanted to get this posted before my memory faded!)

Session 3
Tooth Decay

Players attending: Alex, Dan, Dave, Chinmoyee
Players absent: Adam, Tony, Sean

GMs note: Adam, Tony and Sean were unable to attend this session. To simplify things, there characters were “there” but did not take any action. I only mention this because some significant events happened this session…

The footsteps got closer and closer… it’s an Alien Rex! (How convenient.)

Going against common sense and wisdom, the reduced party decided to seize the opportunity and engage the Alien Rex! The party had an interesting tactic: don’t try to kill the Alien Rex, just knock its tooth out!

The Cyber-Knight used a telekinetic punch to strike the tooth… and rolled a natural 20! The tooth falls out, but falls into the swampy ground.

The Rogue Scientist and Techno-Wizard look for the tooth.. it’s located, right in between the Alien Rex’s feet! The Cyber-Knight dove for it… he manages to get the tooth, but not before being whacked by the monster’s tail! The hit was so hard, it destroyed the Cyber-Knight’s armor!

With the tooth in hand, the party fled the combat on their hovercycles/horse/whatever. Success!

Heading north through the SteelTree Forest towards Char, the party detected a crashed vehicle. They detoured slightly to check it out. Sure enough, there was a large crashed hovertrain with two survivors: Des and Imbopo. They explain that they’re sales representatives from Northern Gun, and this vehicle was one of their displays. Seems that during travel, they hit the same ley line storm and ended up here.

There is a large hole towards the back of the train. The Operator (Dan) took a look and noticed that the hole is blown outwards, suggesting that the something inside caused it to explode. The Operator tried to get answers from the two survivors, but they stuck with their story.

The party agreed to escort the survivors to Char.

Once in Char, the party made themselves comfortable at Roma’s, a local well-known pub. The Techno-Wizard split off to negotiate the Alien Rex tooth with Paradigm. The Cyber-Knight went with her.
